I believe an op-ed is mixture between a pursuasive paper and a research paper. Of course the reader is trying to pursuade you toward his view and get you away from your view. They also need alot of hard evidence to back up there ideas to really pursuade an audience. Like the op-ed i have just read about lobbyists the author is trying to pursuade me toward believing lobbyists are a substancial cue for government success. My attitudes and opinions have changed because now I look at both sides of the situation rather than hurrying and choosing a side I want to support. I have also become more opinionated of the course of English 110.

Organizing Strategies and Structures

In my Op-ed i want to present the reader with an image of murder. My strategy is to get them to think about what they would want if a murderer were to kill one of there family members or friends. My strategy is to also pursuade the reader toward providing those who inflicted death with death. A structure I have provided is that convicts who either kill or harm someone does not get the punishment they deserve. I believe in the recent Op-ed i have read the author is providing the reader with an image different of the average Americans. He is taking another side which consists of backing up the lobbyists rather than going against them. His strategy is to show the other side of lobbyists and pursuade his audience toward his views.

In this op-ed i found it very interesting that it explains lobbyists as good people with the majority of America hating them. It is also explaining that without lobbyists the government would not even be able to function correctly. More than 15,00 lobbyists filed for the Lobbyist Discloure Act which is a ridiculous amount.

Use of Weblog Outside of English

I would blog about ideas that I have seen on the news or from a political standpoint. Keeping updated with prison laws and rules would be considerable. I would also use my weblog to get information on my major which is Anesthesiology. That would possibly open up some doors for me and help me recieve personal cues from people who have already or are taking up the same major. From a academic standpoint I suppose keeping up with current classmates and updating each other on good classes and bad classes along with the difficulties would be helpful. As for me conintuing this after English 110 is over, I hardly doubt I will.

Academic vs. Electronic Audiences

An academic audience requires research and proof of the examples or facts you provide. I believe it is more of a challenge to write for a academic audience than it is for an electronic audience. Electronic audiences are more relaxed and don’t need facts to back up what they are expressing. You also don’t have to use proper language when speaking to an electronic audience.

Op-ed: To Much Crime!

With prisons being spread all over the world, there are now more prisoners than ever. If you travel the country you will see prisons scattered everywhere you go. If you were not a citizen of the United States and came to our country, what would you think of all these prisons? Now I am not saying prisons are bad, I believe they do good to protect people on the outside of the bars but why so many? Don’t you think we should combine prisons so not so much of the government money is going toward all these prisons? If we reduce the population of prisons and start to combine some, we might have more government money to spend on possibly barrels of oil, which would reduce the amount money we would have to spend for a gallon of gas. Combining prisons would also be easier to keep track of them by having fewer. As research proves the United States has more prisoners than any other country, over 1 million in populations.

Having so many prisoners, my idea would to bring back the electric chair. Do you think people who murder other people or kill their wives deserve a chance to live? With having over 1 million prisoners, don’t you think it’s time to vanish that number and get rid of people who have done extreme harm to the country or someone else? I believe so and also believe that doing this would bring the number of prisoners and prisons down drastically. With being the number one country in the world and having so many prisoners, you would think that living in a free country people wouldn’t commit crime. Then you would think that people that do not live in a free country would commit crime. That is the wrong assumption and is proved if you research, especially if you use the google search engine. Many examples and facts are provided throughout sites that prove in statistics the US is the world leading country in convicts.

Prisons have the ability to monitor every inmate and every cell inside the prison. Crimes are still committed in prisons and throughout the world. Don’t you think people would learn right from wrong and establish an idea of where they would go if they commit a crime? It seems the United States have stubborn people and don’t really care what they do. Is this what the United States wanted when they declared this a free country, many crimes? No not at all and bringing back the electric chairs in prison I believe would help limit the crime in the world and also inside the prisons. People would then realize murder equals death. This would also help kids and young adults picture what there life would be like if it were a convicts. Many children who are ignored tend to end up committing a crime or being killed. What would your reaction be if your child was convicted of a crime or killed because you didn’t spend much time with them? Many people would say if I could go back I would spend much more time with them. This is the main cause of a crime, not many people think before they do things and don’t realize the outcome. They believe nothing will happen to them and they won’t be caught. As a result of doing something before you think one time, wouldn’t you think before you did the next thing or would you just assume nothing will happen? The normal response would be, I just did it once that shouldn’t matter. So what do you want, your children committing a crime because you’re never around or living a good life in which you helped provide?

Prison

My analytical research project provides different aspects prisoners have on becoming contributing members to society. It also consists of evidence that allows the reader to see all the different opportunities that lye inside the prison communities. My main focus was to emphasize on the job and educational opportunities that were provided by prison reforms in the past. These reforms expressed and reflected jobs that prisoners had to accomplish before getting a chance to be released. They also helped the prisoners give back to the community in which they disrupted.
